Collection and use of personal information
When you make an online reservation through Orient-Express you will be asked to enter personal information in order to secure your reservation. This information is submitted to the online booking service and web-hosting provider of the respective hotel, cruise or train company.
Orient-Express will not distribute any personal information about you or any individual traveller. You will not receive any unsolicited e-mails as a result of making a reservation on our site.
Because your privacy is important to us, Orient-Express operates by the following principles:
- We only ask for the minimum of identifying personal information (name and email address) when you register.
- When a booking is made we store the personal data that you have entered (such as your address and contact telephone numbers) so that when you book again you do not need to re-enter this data.
- We offer the option of storing your payment details to make booking even easier. This is an option that you control and you will be asked to give us explicit approval to do so.
- Our site uses the latest technology that enables us to keep a record of your interaction with this site and the bookings you make. This information is used only by Orient-Express for the exclusive purpose of improving and tailoring the service we offer members.
- Email alerts are a feature of this site, enabling us to keep you updated of special offers as they arise. It is our policy not to send such emails unless the member has specifically requested them, and to enable easy cancellation of any such service at the member's will.
If at any time you believe that Orient-Express has not adhered to these principles, please notify us by e-mail by writing to privacy@orient-express.com
Credit Card Safety
Your credit card information is safe when you book with Orient-Express.
All information sent to us through our website is automatically encrypted for safe storage. The Orient-Express site uses SSL (Secure Socket Layers) technology. SSL is the industry standard method for computers to make secure transactions without risk of data interception, manipulation, or recipient impersonation. You can see that you are in a secure environment through the 'padlock' symbol on Microsoft Internet Explorer or 'key' symbol on Netscape Navigator. SSL works with Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.0 and later/ Netscape Browser versions 2.0 and later. We feel it's important to have this level of security available, so anyone using lower version browsers should phone our Customer Care Centre to make a reservation.
